Le Incroyable

A historical cosplay blog for France from Axis Powers Hetalia Maintained by @frostedmurdercake

Hiatus and slight blog focus change.

I’ve taken a long, hard look at my funds and other factors and I’ve realized I really can’t be concentrating on such a large-scale costume right now. If I went through with it, I would end up cutting corners to save money and time and I would hate the end result because of it. I’ve decided it’s better to put Children’s Day France on hiatus until I’ve got my life on a track I can be proud of.

As for this blog, I’ll likely sporadically post references and pictures of France’s various canon outfits in historical context because I honestly just find that kind of thing fun.

And there you go! Next time I’m thinking of posting some embroidery examples from the period.

Doublet ca. 1660
Another example of full breeches. Ignore the doublet, that’s way too early period.

Coat and full breeches, 1681
I know I posted this earlier but it was a big deal since it gave me the information I needed about France’s pants. I’m still glad I know to make full breeches, lol

I’m debating adding color to my embroidery when I make my waistcoat but I keep leaning towards no mostly because I’m a beginner at embroidery and I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew the first time.

Look at how wide that embroidery is! Very close to France’s waistcoat. I’m going to hand-embroider mine with gold so I hope it looks half as good as this.

Here’s an example of a waistcoat with removable sleeves. The back of this one, I imagine, is also the same red fabric and likely cut much shorter.
